“I could have been anyone, anyone else
Before you made the choice for me"
Witfar went through a lot.
The struggle began when it stumbled upon Old City. Humans were harsh and stray animals were nowhere nice. It had to endure those who tied metal cans to its tail or simply kicked it out of the way as if it meant nothing to them. Its agility saved it multiple times, but it was no help to its right eye.
When Risio gathered the squad for a "grand new start ensured by Nestor", Witfar thought everything would get better. It hoped to be free of its pain, but seemingly, it had just begun. They were all young and immature, especially Risio, and she thought Witfar would be a hunter at best- while it just wanted to be alone. It wanted to use its agility for good, but instead, it was forced to see the horrors again and again, as if this was meant for this only- living as a pathetic being.
When the Gate was reactivated one day, it decided it couldn't stay here any longer. Even despite the fact its long-time friend and crush Fox would be left behind, it simply didn't care at this point- it just wanted to be happy for once, it wanted to be like others.
Witfar spent a lot of time outside, and it met another cat named Lilith, a shameless gossip machine who was a pain for everyone else. Lilith's venomous presence quickly captured it, kickstarting a toxic relationship within. Witfar thought everything was alright while it was just being manipulated, and it only would notice after months.
Meanwhile, it kept mailing Fox, and the two seemed to be so happy together even when separated. Time passed and a lot of things changed. Fox also had a partner named Almond now, Risio had apparently retired and gone into the woods, and things were pretty chill in Everhome. Witfar on the other hand had just removed the poison of Lilith from itself and if Fox wasn't there, it would get lost in dark thoughts forever. Thanks to him, Witfar somehow pulled itself through this horrible phase and decided to give the village a second try- after all, it didn't have anything to lose.
It was unsure on its way to the village- what would others think of it? Would everything be the same, or was this possibility even any good? To its surprise nothing went wrong, as the new residents greeted it with high respect and awe- it was a part of the Starter Squad after all. Risio had also come after hearing its arrival, and she was deeply ashamed of herself for all the pressure she had put on Witfar. This time she let Witfar be itself, and so did everyone else- they all gave Witfar a second chance so Witfar could give a second chance for itself.
Witfar is finally free of its struggles, some say. It now works at the post office as the mail carrier, collecting letters throughout the village. The animals that were all once scared of it have become friends with it, as they realized it wasn't much of a bad guy after all. It's also having the time of its life with Fox, and yes, while there's Almond, this doesn't mean Fox doesn't have two paws and he can't hold hands with both of them.

“can we set humanity on fire."
Witfar is a pathetic cat. It didn't have the best life back in Old City. Sure, its agility and luck helped, but not enough to protect its right eye and tail. Now in Solstice, it has to see the horrors again and again as a hunter, just because it looked like one. It could live a normal life as an artist or maybe a mail carrier, but no, it has to chase prey and get chased by monsters every night because of some bias.
It's unhappy.
