A user from the newest registration window here(july registration window), so I just heard about genetic strings just a few days ago and I was curious so I tried looking at the tutorial but I got confused when it comes to full and dilute. Like, what is this? What does it mean?? Where is the sign that this cat is carrying a dilute or null??? I'm just so confused, I tried searching through guides but none of the guides explained it in a detailed way, and I couldn't open google spreadsheet because of my potato phone. Pls help

Full and Dilute refer to a cat's color's density. Diluted simply means the color is lighter and less intense than Full.

Here's a chart for the colors:
Black Full: Black [4], Chocolate [3], Brown [2], Tan [1]
Black Dilute (Grey): Charcoal [4], Grey [3], Smoke [2], Silver [1]
Orange Full: Red [4], Ginger [3], Orange [2], Apricot [1]
Orange Dilute (Cream): Buff [4], Cream [3], Almond [2], Beige [1]

They're simply different color groups, but since there's only two alleles (B for Black and O for Orange) that's how you get Grey and Cream; Grey is diluted Black and Cream is diluted Orange.

You can figure out what a cat is carrying by playing with the Beans Sandbox. Test your cat with a confirmed carrier and if the offspring have the traits, then your cat carries it.

For testing for Dilute and Longhair, you can use cat 983 (trade wind). If the offspring have longhair or a diluted color, your cat carries dilute.
For testing for Null, you can use cat 129 (north wind) or 2768 (south wind). If a null offspring shows up, your cat carries null.
