This didn't happen to me, but I wonder if anyone who had the feather apparels listed in the OM might be able to be compensated in some way since they were sold probably much cheaper than ideal and players did not have a chance to decide if they'd rather keep the new items or not?

No complaints about the update itself, it just seems like an accidental oversight and I feel pretty bad for anyone that happened to crying

Otherwise, loving this update and looking forward to adventuring cheer

@orca While it's definitely unfortunate when things change values after an update, it's not realistic for us to be able to compensate for market shifts. This is liable to happen with any update, such as when new crafts come out that use resources that weren't in use before, or a new update drops that has an item that matches really well with a different one.

Keep in mind that we're in an early closed beta state, before the release of one of the most major features of the site, and it might be a good idea to brace yourself for significant economic turbulence over the course of the next couple months. Adventuring is about to come out, and with it people will be able to farm items and notes. Values of pretty much everything are almost certainly going to change here very soon. And they may then change again not long after if adventuring drop values turn out to be too high or low and are adjusted (which is also a plausible outcome as it's difficult for me to anticipate how much time the average person will spend adventuring and how much currency they'll generate.)

Fortunately, the bird decor is a very common hunting drop since the hunting "very rare" pool was really small compared to many of the other occupations (it's the oldest occupation), and it's very full up with small round friends, so you will all be buried in them soon enough.

@Squid Oh I do understand that the economy is not really "in balance" and I think I might have misrepresented my concern by mentioning the part about the value changing. I have absolutely no investment in the cost of items right now, they clearly have no stable value even just from moment to moment, beyond updates. So honestly you can disregard that factor if you want to and my concern would be all the same.

Typically speaking, it doesn't seem like there'll be any reason to replace entire items with new ones, in particular with visual/aesthetic items. Balancing stats and the changes that come with tweaking mechanics are not really a concern. But this update was entirely and exclusively cosmetic, which means that there were players who went from having an item that's only job was to look a certain way, and the next day it didn't. I don't have a problem with that either- to be clear. Like you said, its beta, things change. Buuuut I do feel like in terms of player-experience, even if this is just a one time thing, this was a really unexpected, unconventional, and a bit unfair circumstance that probably no more than a few people have found themselves in.

Like, I understand what you're saying about the economics and values. This makes sense. But in terms of something like being able to look at an item that only has a function of "Appeal to you visually" and a player decided at that time, it did not appeal to them, so they wanted to sell it. When you change that to an item that looks entirely different, players never got to make that choice? Especially when it was such a big change and the nature of the item is so different now. It just seems like, this one time, it wasn't really fair to rob the players who listed one item of their ability to decide if they would retain ownership of it?

Value is one thing, but something like "Do I want this for what it looks like?" is a question that I feel like people shouldn't have to answer one time and then the next day have the answer to that question apply to something they didn't ever...see? Again, to be clear, this didn't happen to me. But I saw one user in the thread mention it and I imagine it happened to several people. I know the intent here was never to hurt players or rob them of agency which is why I feel like, especially if they're bound to be a common item anyway, it wouldn't do much harm allowing people to answer that "Do I want this" question for themselves if its possible to do so.
