For the Community Guidelines, we have clarified:
- Asking for a hold or payment plan does count under the policy, and so the user should clarify whether or not they are open to these kinds of things up-front.
- Good faith attempts to help someone do not count under the policy and as such are allowed. These include returning an accidentally underpriced item, informing a user that they've made a mistake in the listing, or reaching out for help after sending something to the wrong person. These aren't interactions that take place for the purpose of buying/selling and are generally meant to be kind or informative.
Old Community Guidelines section
Users who wish to trade or sell their belongings will post them for trade/sale publicly. The following behaviors relating to sales and solicitation are not allowed:- Begging, including asking for gifts, free items, loans, or favors.
- Hosting giveaways with strings attached. Items or cats no longer in your account do not belong to you anymore, and you may not try to control what a user does with them.
- Sending unsolicited trade requests, messaging users to ask if items not listed for sale/trade could be sold or traded, or otherwise sending unwanted solicitation.
- Unless a user otherwise states that they are okay with offers, do not message them to ask if they will give you a discount or sell for an alternate price.

The majority of the reports we receive are received whenever someone makes a fairly innocent mistake, like calculating recessive genes wrong, using the wrong terminology, or accidentally pasting the wrong information into a listing before posting. These are clearly not attempts to scam someone and are just common mistakes (especially as made by new players), and so these do not violate the rules. We would like to encourage users to instead help each other out by reaching out directly in such cases as it is not sustainable for us to be able to monitor and verify the accuracy of every listing comment as the site scales up.
Old Cat/Item Sales Policy
This means that the following, more specific cases should not be reported because they are not against the rules.- Cats or items listed for extremely high prices - overpricing is not against the rules, especially if the owner is accepting offers or trades
- Cats or items with comments that link to trade/offer threads that the cat or item is included in
- Cats or items that have been purchased by another user and listed for higher than the original price UNLESS there is evidence of scamming.
