Daylight Savings no longer breaks the site

The system used to calculate number of days and otherwise configure dates has been completely remodeled. This required changes to date calculations on over 75 different pages of the site, so it was a long process. However, it does seem to be working now!

Your cats that got behind when daylight savings started should now be back to their real ages. This should also have fixed issues with date calculations in Nestor's cat gifting counter, the lodge timelines, and everywhere else where dates were involved.


New Catmojis

Yes and no catmojis (above) now exist!


Block system oversight fixes

A number of oversights and unintentional behaviors were possible under the block system, so some changes have been made in order to remedy these and clean them up some.

All changes to the block system include:

• Blocking someone from viewing your cats/village is now separate from blocking them from viewing your forum threads or posts. If you had this option checked before, both are now checked to prevent changes in how things were already working. However, if you only want one or the other, you can edit your block settings for each user under Manage Blocklist.
  
  
• The Manage Blocklist page (linked above) has been remodeled slightly with our fancy new yes/no catmojis. The appearance of blocked posts has also been cleaned up some.
  
  
• Users should no longer get notifications to posts they are not able to read due to block settings. This includes pings to blocked or hidden posts and notifications on subscribed threads to blocked or hidden posts.
  
  
• It was possible to block someone from viewing your posts, but then still go and post on their sales or art threads with messages they cannot see. To stop this, blocking someone from viewing/posting on your threads now prevents you from posting on their threads in return (essentially, this kind of block goes both ways now instead of just one).
  
  
• Some exceptions to the blocking function have been implemented to keep certain information-based forum categories running smoothly. All original posts in threads in Bug Reports and the Dev Corner can now be seen or responded to because of our general process of locking duplicate threads. Any follow-up posts or responses will still be hidden per usual - this only applies to the first post.
  
  Similarly, all original posts in pinned threads can now be seen or responded to as they contain vital information or serve as a hub for certain community activities.
  
  A note indicating the exceptions above is added to the page where you post new topics in these exempt categories, as well as the page where you go to block users.

Small TOS and Community Guidelines updates

The Terms of Services have been revised to indicate that it is okay to make physical/tangible items (physical paintings, cross-stitched cats, etc.) so long as these pieces are only sold for in-game currency or given away. Selling these items for real-world currency is still not allowed.



The Community Guidelines have been revised to make it clear that repeatedly blocking and unblocking someone to engage in a one-sided conversation is considered harassment. The below new item was added under the Harassment category:



Other Bug Fixes

- Items with apostrophes are no longer impossible purchase due to breaking the pop-up in open market

- Ping notification links are slightly less likely to lead you to the wrong page (they will still do this on occasion, but not as much).

- Unpublished/unreleased items in the item database can no longer be discovered through the sandbox dropdowns or forum item code.

What's next?

Seasonal events! If all goes well*, the event cycle will begin with Snowmelt, which will take place from June 4-10th. More details to come soon!

* Everyone tell the server to be nice and have no more random major bugs pop up like they've done all March.
