i just elected my first mayor chosen by vote, and i noticed that the candidates are able to vote as well, and it seems like they all just vote for themselves?
i'm not sure if this is intended because it seems a bit funky
@hunor
I'm not quite sure (and tried to find a post finding out why but could only find Squid recording who voted for who and noted a cat of theirs voted for themselves), so my guesses are either that it doesn't matter (because voting for yourself means everyone has at least 1 vote so it doesn't make a difference) or that, because of how cats are coded to cast votes and having preferences on who they vote for, they probably prioritize themselves above anyone else because why vote for your opponent?
@hunor I did it because this is how most real-world elections (at least in the US and in academia) tend to work too. You don't lose your voting rights just by running for something, and why would someone not vote for themselves. If they didn't want to be mayor, I would assume they wouldn't run.
Ok in academia professors tend to not vote for themselves cause they don't want to be responsible for stuff but like cat mayors have the choice to opt out.
