Elsewhere is a village based on the idea that when Nestor retrieved the not-cats from Earth, they brought with them (by accident) a human device: an MP3 player. The not-cats are all named after songs and they hold the device dearly, as their leader, Swan Song, used to belong to a human before she disappeared. The not-cats don't know it, but the human went to college, leaving behind old things. Swan Song carried the device with her as it makes funny noises that the human liked, and the memory comforts her.

Occasionally, the Noise Pod will "sync with a cloud". They have no idea what that means, but every time it happens, more songs appear. Only Swan Song understands the words in the song clearly enough to make them out, making her both the current leader and the Cloudspeaker. The Cloudspeaker gives other not-cats who join their village names. Silver Platters and Plastic Promises are the current Cloudspeaker apprentices.

If you're interested: Here's a REAL Playlist I made on Spotify to match the cats! It's full of their names and may eventually have random songs to go along with the lore- Some of the names will have more obscure references (like being named after a specific lyric in a song), so you get a cookie if you can guess who is who without checking their bios <3
