Salem is a very small village thick with dark trees, strange caverns, and calm waters. Despite its almost foreboding nature, a little troop of notcats decided to call it home, and their society thrives. The glen itself seems to welcome them, honored it was chosen and cherishing all its life, including some of the... stranger presences within its walls.





These six cats were the first to land in Salem, finding the land at its wildest. After being dropped off by Nestor, five of the six banded together in search of a place to call home. Where the trees got dark in wood and the plantlife was thick, convoluted, even foreboding, they saw a fixer-upper of a scape and made it into a Home. It was outside this place they met the very first, Mau, an accidental dropoff and eventually an integral part of the village.
Things started off roughly for the six. Bad weather and scarce building material made rooting down extremely difficult, as if the land itself tested them to stay. With hard work, new Nestor dropoffs, and a special kind of camaraderie only rugged homesteading with 5 other strangers of questionable mental state could forge, Salem became the village it is now, and the land is very proud of its inhabitants.

This land is not all it seems to be, and there is a list of notable Entities to be documented, notcats that don't behave... as notcats should.
These cats are categorized into four3 groups:

• Known - These notcats likely live in Salem as upstanding citizens, or are just seen around domestically. Whether they're normal cats afflicted with unfortunate circumstance, or simply born Entities with tame ability, these are not notcats to fear, they are quite friendly and should be regarded like any other villager.
• Unheard - These notcats are ones to be wary of, but don't panic--they're not evil. They usually don't frequent the main village, but you won't be harmed if you run into one. Just... don't get on their bad side, like a wasp. You leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. Cats here may also be citizens with stronger abilities, or abilities not fully known to the village.
• UNSEEN - Do not engage. Do not even look at them. It's best to forget these notcats even exist, they are merely logged here as warning. They're rarely seen, or few come back to tell they have. These Entities are dangerous in ways you cannot comprehend.
• ????? - DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT are they real? DANGER you do not know that :) IT IS NOT REAL. IT IS NOT REAL. FORGETFORGETFORGETFORGETFORGET

Mau
Status - Known
Mau was technically the very first cat to settle here. Their abnormal quality is obvious--they appear to be a droid of some sort, despite us not having harnessed electricity yet. Their face is a lit-up display screen, and their fur even feels synthetic! Supposedly, Mau migrated from Earth like the rest of the founders, but when asked, he tells stories none of the others understand, even the other Earthen notcats! The only one who seems to get them is Aeris, but she seems moreso fascinated than anything else. Regardless, they're the best smithy anyone's ever seen, except maybe Enterprise, but those two get along fine. Mau ran the mines long before all the other cats over there joined them. They're extremely friendly, best friends with the mayor, you should have no trouble with them (and quite frankly I don't think anyone has...).


Mystery
Status - Unheard
The Mayor's son. He grew up here before leaving town… Teal misses him dearly, but they write every day. He never felt quite at home here, but don’t be afraid to wave if you see him. We may never know what he can do, but at least he’s happy.


Legume
Status - Unheard
Legume is very reserved, xe only really comes out to collect resources and get luncheon. Xe barely even speaks, and the scarf of tangled lakeweed obscuring xer mouth makes overhearing difficult at best. Strange, blackened patches of skin exist on xer ears, and new ones showed up not long after the revival of Leopard. The skin feels hard, wrinkled, and almost appears to crack. Xe refuses to answer any questions about their origin, and will not let anyone touch the patches. Otherwise, xe seems to be a normal cat... but can anyone be sure?


Whistle
Status - Known
A domestic Entity, their status changed to Known after they settled down with their partner Tawny. Whistle is a known mimic, who assumes the appearance of their partner usually, but may take on the form of any cat they've seen. Reportedly, their true form makes them 'insecure', however some speculate them to be dangerous under their partner's looks. I don't really believe that. Tawny and their daughter Markdoon have both seen their true form, and report it to be 'really not that bad'.


Sorrow
Status - UNSEEN
Please report any sightings of this cat to Legume and Mayor Teal IMMEDIATELY.
Very few tales of this notcat exist, and none are good. A small pawful of patrols and travelers passing by the outskirts of the Bayside area have on rare occasion reported a cheshire-striped notcat with large, sad eyes Watching them. All reporters have ended up in varying degrees of sickness, though worse fates have been told to us as well. If you see this notcat, do not engage. Leave the area immediately. Do not talk to them. Do not even lo%£]k at them.
