World Event 02: The Forest is Changing Them [2023-01-15]
The following appeared in an update on January 15, 2023 that introduced various whitemarking types and added a new mysterious piece to the end of the genetic string.
This event canonically took place on Summer 8, Year 7.
Something about the landscape of Not-Earth was changing them, the not-cats that lived in the deep part of the woods, that is.
It had been happening ever since they first came here, seven years ago. With each generation of not-cats, they felt more and more comfortable in their surrounding environment.
This was where they were meant to be, and they knew that.
But the not-cats never really paid that much attention to it. Sure, Nestor's Wood was changing them, that much was certain, but none of them knew what exactly that meant.
At least, not until one bean was born in the canopy of Gardenhome City with markings unlike anything they had ever seen before. Her name was Acorn, and she was, decisively, not a cat.
They never were cats, of course, they remember that, but only when they start to look less and less like cats, did it really start to sink in.
The changes were subtle, but... a flip of the white markings in seven years, and in the next seven? They could not say what that would bring...
It was only the beginning, after all.
