While wandering through Gardenhome, you find a happy green noticeboard with a basket of leaflets attached to its side. Across the top is a title, "The Grasswalkers Journal", and in the centre there's a prominent message.



"Hello, not-cats! I'm Toastie, mayor of Grasswalkers, and this is our humble bulletin board! Here, we'll share our village happenings, good, bad and everything in-between. New not-cats, a memorable adventure, renovations, you name it! If it happens and we think it's worth sharing, it'll get a post on the board.

If you like, leave your own notes on the board. Reactions, questions, it's all welcome! We're still a young village and we're eager to find our way in this new not-earth and get to know other not-cats and villages!

Hi there! I love sharing the goings on in my village and I thought it would be a neat challenge to start writing it all in-character since I've been meaning to develop more lore and personality for my cats, and here we are!

This is partially just a way to catalogue and record the village history but interactions from your cats are absolutely welcome and encouraged! There's no real special rules, I tried to leave the format flexible so anything is possible. Thanks for reading, happy posting!

"Hello, everyone! This is Toastie and Krill, and what an exciting way to start our new board this is! To our surprise, our village was joined by three beans today, and only two of them were expected!

Two of the beans are ours by blood, our lovely Slate and Silver, but on my (Toastie's) daily visit to Nestor he had found an orphaned bean and asked us to adopt. It was heartbreaking to see such a young not-cat alone...

I took them home to the village, named them Hope with a little help from Krill, and we're happy to say they're getting on well with Slate and Silver! Nestor told me they're about 11 days old so they're a little older, but we can already tell they're going to be inseperable. We can't wait to watch them grow up together.

"Hello, Gardenhome. I'm Nova, one of the founders of the village and our primary medic. It has been relatively uneventful since our last message, another successful adventure, the beans are settling in well and we've built a barn with Speckle as our flockherd. However, I've made a strange discovery about myself today...

It seems most other not-cats don't see the world as fuzzily as I do, and this is by no means figurative. It's more than a little embarrassing that the medic didn't notice her own poor eyesight sooner, but, well... I suppose we can all only see out of our own eyes, and I didn't have much of an opportunity to acknowledge let alone fix this back on Earth.

It was discovered while collecting resources with Toastie and Krill this morning. Toastie seemed concerned that I appeared to be missing objects that were obvious to her, and while I initially brushed it off as an unlucky day, after we returned home some short investigations showed it was more than just inattentiveness.

I hate to ask, especially so early on for this board, but if anyone is aware of a place to order corrective lenses of any form please do leave a note, it would be much appreciated both by me and all those I treat.

"I'd join but the village doesn't trust me with swords yet. If I'm lucky I'll be able to drop by before next season..."

A neatly written note was posted beside Nova’s, in pretty cursive and pink ink.

“If you ever find yourself in our neck of the woods, I would be happy to examine you. My name is Jessie, from Splendor, I’ve been a physician for four years now and would be pleased to offer any help I can. I know the local blacksmith well, we can certainly get some frames made for you.”
The note is signed with a pink flower made of ink.

"Hello again, Gardenhome. Today's post is much happier than my last.

The wonderful not-cats from Splendor gracefully helped with my request and created a perfect pair of glasses for me. I can't thank them enough for their generosity and kindness, especially Jessie and Leo. A piece of me is frustrated that I could have had this sooner, but I'm glad it did and I'm feeling far better than before. I wish them all the best in their village life.

"Helllllo ooooooo ooo oo GARDENHOME! I'm SPECkLE I'm the flockherd I loooove animals. Even before I was the flockherd which Nova mentioned yesterday day before thank youuu! I want to tell you all about my favourite babies today because I love them

Ok so here's" There's a doodle of a mini-pig. "my faaaavourite favourite baby he lives on my head most days. his name is Fluff because he's fluffy. I can't remember where he came from buuut I've known him since before I was a flockherd. Known him for most of my time on not earth! He makes a good soft hat and I love him

Here's" There's a doodle of a chicken. "Platinum! Grey chicken. I only met her a few days ago! She loves cuddles

And finally here's" There's a doodle of a snail. "my snail! I found Perch found them while it was fishing and now we're buddies! They really like Platinum too! But I need a name for them help! Despite my very good names for Fluff and Platinum I'm actually not very good at names. That's actually why I wanted to write this sorry for lying. Thank youuu!

"Sure is windy today! I hope everyone's doing alright in this weather, I keep finding leaves and grass in my fur!

Another bean unexpectedly joined our village today! I took the little baby home from Nestor and had a particular cat in mind for who might be interested in adopting them...

Once she returned from her adventure with Speckle, Stag and Parker, Nova was happy to adopt and take care of the little guy! She named them Aloe, and she's spending so much time with them she asked me to write this post instead! I can't blame her, I've learnt the joy of being with your beans very quickly these past few days!

Aloe looks a lot like the last bean Nestor asked us to take care of, Hope. I noticed practically immediately and asked if they were littermates before I'd even said whether I'd take them home, but Nestor assured me they were born on different days and couldn't be, it's just an interesting coincidence.

"I seem to be good at wanting to post on windy days, I hope everyone's managing the weather! And the fog yesterday, wow..! Rune and Lune love relaxing near the lake on our village border, they said they could barely see the other side!

Anyway, Nestor guided a new cat to us today! She said she'd like to write her own introduction. Take it away, Clementine!"

"Hello! I'm Clementine. I'm the new cat in the village. I haven't been on not-earth long, so I'm still getting used to everything... It's a little scary. Lots of new places, lots of new things to do... but I'm enjoying it so far! Everyone here has been so nice and welcoming.

I'm a little shy, so I'm not sure how often I'll be posting... but I'm glad to be here. I already feel so much more at home, and if any cats want to talk about crafts with me, I'd love to! I've already fallen in love with my new role as craftscat. Thank you to Toastie for especially for being so welcoming and helping me figure out what to do for the village.
