This is super cool to play with, thank you so much! Also you taught me about grouping columns and rows in Sheets which has blown my mind Thanks for making this tool!

One thing I noticed is that filling in "White Marks: None" automatically propogates the N|N|0 alleles--but isn't it possible to be, for example, Y|N|0 or N|N|10?

Okay so I just used this to fill out ALL of my Not Cat's strings so here's a few things I've noticed!

The letter for Nul in strings on site is O, but is listed as N on the sheet

The Genetics sheet being expandable is not very clear but is necessary to fill out recessives

Also oligyra you're correct. I'm not sure if it's feasible to change it so that White Marks: None doesn't propagate anything until the alleles are filled out, but if it is I bet that'd increase the ease of use. My thinking is that if it automatically sets the alleles as N|N|0 people will just skip testing when it's possible to have Y|?|0 or N|N|1-10 and get the exact same phenotype.

For the N|N|0 case, this is dependent on the cat's ID, as cats that have N|N were automatically made to have 0 up until ID's 11358 and higher. The sheet will leave it blank if the cat has N|N and has an ID like 13000.

But with the Y|?|0 case I have corrected it to leave both blank until it is determined. Thanks for catching that.

Thank you! I have fixed that genetic string error. And I've added a note about expanding the sheet after logging main details to add in recessives.


There are a few cases for None, N|N|0, Y|?|0, N|N|1-10. (N|Y|1-10 not possible, as N is always recessive)
Originally squid only had None result in N|N|0, then after ID's 11358 and up, it was corrected to include the other 2 cases.

The sheet already included the 2 other cases in testing, but I forgot to edit the automatic part.
Now it will check the ID before concluding None = N|N.

I loved using this sheet, it made figuring out my (and my friends) cat's genetic strings super fun and easy! I especially love the little image popups when you select a test for recessive testing it makes figuring out white patterns and color dilute way easier

Two small things I noticed was that on the genetic string tab "Pattern" is spelled "Patterm", and for the white marks drop down on the same tab both "classic" and "bicolor" are listed, when it should be "classic bicolor" or just "bicolor". (if you put down classic it reads as the white amount being blank instead of 5, maybe this is intentional but I was confused whether I should put down classic or bicolor when I first used the sheet!)

Again, loved the sheet thank you so much for making this great resource!
