Alright, let me just preface this that I’m not the most familiar with the website. I’m not really involved in the community, and you can tell as much by my post history. I’m honestly here mostly just to support my friend with silly cats.

That doesn’t mean I haven’t been here for a while, though, and I do my dailies with dedication, so I was there during the first dupli-cat bug. In fact, I had a dupli-cat, and accidentally duplicated them like, five times, freaking out about getting in trouble for it in said friend’s discord until I stopped and waited to just let it pass. (They can vouch!)

Frankly, I had grown attached to this cat through the panic (they look a bit like my sister’s cat), and I was completely distraught the next morning after the site rollback when I had lost them. I understood that it would happen eventually, of course, but still… I'd hoped we'd have a little longer together. Just one day, one hour more, knowing, so that I could make it count, and make sure they knew how much I loved them.

Fortunately, I got mail from them a few days later—apparently they were out traveling after the rollback for some reason? My Arwen is, like, my favorite cat because of all of this. They’re everything to me, and we've been through so much together. I never, ever, ever intend to trade them away or get rid of them. Now, I guess it’s been a month since all that, like, January 19th site time, right? So a few days ago on February 19th site time, exactly a month later, I visited Nestor like I usually do, clicked the button, and I never invest much energy into what I get from Nestor day to day since, again, not involved with a lot of site stuff, but getting a new cat is always a nice surprise.

Except for when this cat is identical to my Arwen. Or nearly identical, I guess? Same sitting pose, same piebald pattern, same orange, even the same eyes, pronouns, and wind. Just a few key differences are the “Mysterious” personality type, and this new cat’s name, which just feels really strange to me, simply “Tall Cat”. Like, I thought a lot of the default cat names were nature based, or like, fancy and cool. Tall Cat is just… out of place, for lack of a better word. So maybe they're not technically another dupli-cat, but still.

It caught me off guard, as though it was some kind of activation trigger when I first saw them, and I immediately knew something was off. You know how you realize right away that it was all a dream when you see something there that just can't be there?

Of course, I accepted the gift from Nestor; I never say no to a new cat, but I’m starting to regret it. Tall Cat is not great at any of the jobs I can give them, and whenever I’ve gotten them in scenarios they never go well, since I can’t find them in the spreadsheet guide thing for scenarios. I figure they’re new, but I don’t know where to go to submit them. It feels like these scenarios end up with the other cats involved hating Tall Cat, and whenever there’s a solo scenario with Tall Cat, something just feels unnatural about it. I can share some more screenshots and information if needed, but I’m just kind of wondering what’s going on?

Obviously I’m not opposed to the site lore leaning on more horror aspects. I mean—look at Nestor! We love that freaky moose guy! But yeah, is there a secret update coming in or something with the influx of new members? Or like, is this a true dupli-cat that I should be worried about, or just something else?

I’ll update this thread to respond to people and as a journal for this weird little cat, probably.

Okay, I've gotten another interesting one. I must say, I'm really loving this new content! I'm a huge sucker for horror, and this is really scratching that itch for me, moreso than my itch has ever been scratched on this site before.

I really like the direction this is going with the idea that not all of the cats within a village are going to be perfect and happy-go-lucky and friendly and (even if they're rivals) playful all the time. Even with regards to the relationship points, I don't do much adventuring anyway, and Tall Cat isn't even on my ideal team, so does it really matter? I'm not carrying them with me whenever I go adventuring, I'm just not.

Anyway, I noticed that my computer isn't letting me delete any of these saved screenshots. Like, come on, I know I have a lot of old photos saved, but you're not going to let me clean up any of the useless stuff? I'm definitely NOT going to delete his photos just so I can get rid of these ones. A quick search says I'll have to look for corruption in the folder data or some other stuff. Hopefully it doesn't wreck my laptop.

I also kind of made the mistake of staying up way too late last night making the original thread whenever I'm thinking about something before bed it always ends up appearing in my dream. Like, I watched Emesis Blue last night too when it premeired, so I was having this wild TF2 dream where Tall Cat ended up appearing. I couldn't even begin to describe it, so I'm not going to bother, it was just very, very peculiar (My dreams usually are). (I know it's not cat related, but I CANNOT recommend Emesis Blue enough, even if you're not a TF2 fan you can really appreciate the craftsmanship!)

Well, yeah, Tall Cat is a little bit scary, but the cats can't truly die on adventures, so I'm sure scenarios can't hurt them either. We've got forever together. I've been wondering if there's anything that will be expanded on with Nestor based on what I've seen here, but I don't know for sure. Wishful thinking!

I was really out of it last night, so I forgot to save the weird mail I got, I don't really remember it, but I certainly did not forget to save THIS doozy of a scenario.

I know the idea of eating atypical animal meat like offal has people wary (as is well within their right--I should know) but at the same time growing up in a big hunting area, this concept is just kind of funny to me, like some kind of severely misguided rabbit stew recipe. Anyway, the page breaking bit is pretty cool.

I've been kind of anxious to get another cat after getting Tall Cat, I want to see how this whole "stranger" role plays out with different cats, or maybe finally see how Tall Cat and my Arwen interact. Like, I know that the cats aren't actually "aware" of how the cats around them look, so their near-identical-ness won't really matter, but it could still end up with something funny/confusing. From what I remember, I haven't even had any scenarios with my Arwen at all, recently. I should take them out on an adventure soon, or maybe doll up their page. I think they'd like that.

Edit: I do remember the mail now, apparently it was actually a normal one that I just haven't gotten before. The one from "brain josh" looking for "help from the other side" or something.

Just came across this thread and wow! I've never seen those kind of interactions on this site before, what a lucky find! Can't wait to see what more you find !

But, hmm, now that I'm really looking closely at those last two screenshots and see those catmojis.. I've never seen that specific kind before, I guess they're only seen when a cat with the stranger role joins the village ? They're a little creepy to be honest, but it sure is cool to see Easter eggs like those exist!

I do find it a little suspicious however that Arwen seems to have coincidentally gone inactive around the time Tall Cat joined, not to raise tin foil hats or anything because I'm sure it's nothing but- y'know. Tall Cat is already a pretty shady cat, but I'm starting to think that maybe they're not what they seem to be.. Maybe Tall Cat is a not-not-cat? Hahaha !
