It’s probably 75% adventuring and gathering resources. Most users sell expensive items/cats and/or Adventure and quick sell when trying to grind a lot of notes. The better adventuring team you have, the easiest it is.

I have a question about adventure strategizing: when picking skills for my cats, should I pick ones that improve dice rolls that are already good (like picking Swim on a high-strength cat) or ones that cover the cat's weaknesses (like picking Knowledge of Animals on a low-intelligence cat)? I can't tell which is better in the long run.

@badgersaurus Okay so, how best to explain this…
If I’ve been doing this correctly, skills improve the die being used. There’s different levels, I believe it’s gray, plain(sort of a parchment color if that makes sense), blue, pink, pink being a +2 modifier like the Hide ability. Much higher chance of getting crits, very rarely fails. Gray being a disadvantage, a -1. This is default block/dodge die unless you’re hiding or blocking in battle.
Some people I know do it by location. One of my best friends gave all their cats Climb because he always goes to the mountains. I don’t remember what all skills I gave my cats, I can check but, they all have swim because unless I accidentally click cliffs, Section 2 is always following the stream. I believe it’s something like 3 pink dice for Jess, 2… I’ll have to get a screenshot next time it happens. I’m almost to the Shadow of Nestor in my current run.
And then I try for a mix. (And it can always be changed)
Since my team is the next generation from the original founders, I kind of mirrored their skills.
Jess has like, befriend to match her personality, knowledge of plants and animals, and is a scout like her mom, Larch has the good survival ones, Climb, Swim, Search, and like… Balance, I think it is? Glory has those if you switch Search and Force, because they have like 6 or 7 Force dice..etc

Edit: to summarize, I’d mix and match abilities and probably change them to your play style, and give a not-cat the abilities they’re ‘best’ at. They don’t have to have the most dice for it in the party, and two not-cats can have the same ability, but if a cat has like, four or more dice, give them more of those abilities than the ones they have one or two of. You’ll have a bonus, but it’ll still be a low chance. There’s going to be rolls they fail.

Skills needed to find more items: Search
Skills needed for the Cliffs: Climb, Force (there’s an interaction or two that appears more in the cliffs and part IV if I remember correctly that uses force)
Skills need for for Stream: Jump, Swim
And not all of your cats need to have these, and they can be changed

(Sorry @Willow for intruding. I’ll delete my reply if you wish ) @Badgersaurus when it comes to adventuring, I would always recommend skills that have the highest dice/better dice type. Id prioritize more dice over dice type unless it’s like a difference of 5 dice vs 6 dices, then I’d use the better dice type. I’d also recommend every not-cat having either climb or swim, depending on which route you like to take (cliffs vs streams). Most people prefer streams, but I do cliffs and have every cat have climb.

When you're just starting out with adventuring, I'd recommend starting out by making all your cats the fighter class until they reach level 2 and get the bite skill to replace the claw skill.

I'm not too well knowledged with the best classes or skills to choose, but I personally have a guardian, fighter, medic, and scout in my adventuring team, and pick the skills that have the highest number of dice for each one. It really just all depends on your play style and cat's stats.

How do you unlock new areas for adventuring? I see on the world map there’s a lot of places and I was wandering if there was a certain thing I need to do?
