Summary of Bug: for whatever reason unbeknownst to me, i get logged out of the site after not using it for a while within the same day. this does not happen on other sites.
Steps to Reproduce: unsure. possibly leaving the computer on sleep mode for an extended period of time. this has never been an issue before.
Browser/OS/Device: firefox, windows 10 (refreshed recently, doubt it's a system issue? if occurs again will update.)
Screenshot: ... will add if bug occurs again. unsure what info can be gleaned from this.

figured i should report this as it's never been a topic of issue for me before. as stated above, this has never happened to me on other sites, so i have no idea if it's a pce-specific issue or something with my browser/computer being a pain. will update if it happens again, since it's happened multiple times now today.

@maitibon Are you checking the "keep me logged in" box when you log in?

And if so, is there anything that cause your computer to drop or fail to save cookies? Eg. cookie-blocking or clearing settings, low storage space on device, etc.

@squid yep! it didn't happen again, so who knows why it kept doing that, but. bizarre

as for that, i don't think so? last time i checked anyway.

@maitibon Interesting, definitely keep an eye on it and look through settings if it happens again. The reason this happens is because your site cookie either goes missing or doesn't save properly - so anything you can find cookie-related in your settings is worth an investigation.

Oh this happens to me all the time lol, though I’m not usually truly logged out. I’ll try to explain.
So I’m using Ecosia on an IPad. If I close the application tab on leave it in the background for a long time and then the page resets, I’ll be “logged out”. However, if I go to any other PCE page after that, I’ll be logged in just fine without having to log in again.
Ecosia moderates cookies btw, but I’m not sure how or to what extent.

@TVtheTV If you can go into your browser or extension settings and whitelist the site wherever they put the cookies/security settings, that might help with that? Not sure! It kind of sounds like it's idling/failing to recognize/blocking cookies until refreshed.

I can confirm that PCE only uses one cookie and that cookie is for the sole purpose of keeping you logged in. So any log-in related issues are generally because of something user-end interfering with it.
