I have a lot of trouble understanding what all goes into Adventuring - I just do it to gradually level up all of my cats for the notes and EF from backpacks. Whatever happens happens. I can't figure out how stats and lunches and weather effects change how the cats move and hit and dodge and whatnot. I can get through the whole thing easily enough without understanding any of that. But one thing I thought I had noticed was how hitting works. I thought it worked like this:

Levels 1-3
rolling a pawprint applies 1 hit point
rolling paw tracks applies 2 hit points

Level 4
the above, plus 1 bonus hit point for each pawprint or tracks icon rolled

Is that wrong? Because my latest cat that I'm leveling up (Squash) is at level 2, but every time he hits he's getting that bonus hit point for every pawprint or track icon. Is it because of something in his stats?

(Note that I know Squash isn't already at level 4 in a different adventuring category because I got a backpack from him when he leveled up to 2.)

@Refractor There’s a +1 bonus for being on level 4, the paw print tracks you’re describing is what we call a critical hit. My kitties currently deal 7 damage for crits, because they have something called a group harmony of four.
Are any of your not-cats friends, besties, or partners? It’ll be shown by a heart in their little menu in adventuring. Like when you’re in a battle and you scroll down and can see stuff about your cats, if there’s a heart or two or three or four by their name, that’s the group harmony, and it increases the damage they deal

Edit: Yeah that would be happening if for example, Persimmon is on your team

@Willow. Thank you for answering! And yes, Persimmon is on my team. So once Squash reaches level four, will he get an extra bonus on top of that? And are Citron and Murfy, who are both level 4, getting an extra bonus besides the level 4 bonus because they're friends, too? Wow!

@Refractor No, he gets harmony immediately. It can be as high as his level though, so if he has enough relationships with other team members he’ll get all the benefits at level 4

Do all stats increase as cats increase levels? For example, Squash has 14 health and I swear he started with 14 health points at level 1, but now he has 19 at level 2. (Citron has 22 health in her stats but in adventuring she can take 42 points worth of hits). Same with turn order - Squash went third in the order when he was level 1, but now that he's level 2 he goes second in order - did his turn order stat increase? (what stat affects turn order?). Is there a "standard" increase for these things for each level your cats go up?

I'm just trying to figure out how good Squash is going to be after he's leveled to 4, and if I should consider using him as one of my perma 3 for training the other cats in my village. With his 14 health I discounted him as being too fragile, but he's just wicked strong hitting! He's the only trainee I've had that is effective enough to use against SON even at level 1.

Stats work like this:

([Stat dice value(d3, d4, etc)] * (Level - 1)) + [Stat value(10, 15, 19, etc)]

With the stats being perception for initiative and health for, health.

So for instance, your cat Squash at level 1 starts with 14 HP, and every level above 1 gets +3 HP.

This is base HP only, so anything effecting max HP (foods, guardian class, a doctor, etc) is applied afterwards
