hey! first time doing forum stuff, pologies if this seems disjointed or messy

recently ive gotten a sort of fascination with snow watercolor cats. i find the combination to be really beautiful and interesting!

i was under the impression that the snow coloration only comes with null cats, which are a wind representing a lack thereof. but i was also under the impression that watercolor is a trait that only shows with trade cats, which genetically arent able to carry null? it also seems like this cat in particular is a nestor cat, which makes sense

there's a cat with these traits on this official guide and on this moji which is cool

all of this leads me to my question: is it at all possible to breed a cat with snow and watercolor? is this a combination unattainable through non-rng means? furthermore, how much more rare would it be to find a snow + watercolor cat with long fur? thanks for reading

Those watercolor cats have snow markings since they are all density 1 colors! The examples you show, for instance, are Apricot and Silver. The other two colors are Tan and Beige.

Since watercolor is a combination of one color and one lighter shade of the same color (eg: Ginger-Orange, Smoke-Silver, Charcoal-Grey), and density 1 colors is already the lightest shade available, the second shade shows up as Snow instead!

Egg Tart here is just a bean, but they are Tan-Snow watercolor! Her parents are North/density 1 and South/density 2, respectively.

you can think about snow as color density 0 , and since watercolor are typically density x + density (x-1) (eg, black-chocolate watercolor is d4+d3), density 1 watercolors (like the ones you're showing), have half of their color snowy

Yes, I have these four siblings. Was disappointed at first because the bean previews look like Nulls, but the parents aren't actually capable of producing Nulls. They are pretty though!

i LOVE SNOW WATERCOLORS SO MUCH!!! Especially if they have low white & some sort of point marking, like my custom cat. Thanks for this thread, it was actually really helpful because I've been looking into how to breed more of this kind of not-cat!
