There isn't anything there that anyone could want.

Stumbling over one of the camp's strung-line alerting traps, he was found the next morning tangled in string, miserable, and cold. After deducing he was of no real threat - outnumbered and trembling - warm soup and a blanket were brought to him, and tiny fractions of his backstory were pried free: he'd run away from his home, abandoned all that he'd known, and gone into the forest.

No one questioned his tale. The Tower, cold and unfeeling above the trees, called out in silence, bleeding an aura of tension and desire all at once. Those who found themselves at its foundations, staring up at its infinite form, could not articulate the throbbing in their chest or the compulsion to rip at its doors. But it existed in them, all the same, and it was clear as day on his face as his eyes flicked, over and over, to the stalwart foundations.

But, on the next excursion, he placed only a single paw on the great steps leading to the door - flinched, shuddered, and turned away. Pack dumped on the ground, tail around his legs, all he could manage was - "I can't go in."
