Hazelnut was formerly known as Luna, when she was adopted as a kitten and lived with Italian-American lawyers. (She may have also been named Caroline as a wee newborn.) Her mom fell ill, and the old couple couldn't take care of her anymore. She was returned to her breeder at four years old, when her current parents came along and adopted her. She was chosen when she boldly swiped with her claws as her now-dad entered the house. (She had been hiding behind the doorway on a tall cat tower, away from the other cats--she is fiercely independent!)
