A-Team: Darkfang, Bryn, Reve, Phelan
Need: Dark Hunter Gear
The first six were thrown together when Nestor came.
Darkfang had been away from her clan in a period of self reflection because she felt like an odd one out. She’d felt drawn to the city. She had seen when a great ethereal being had appeared. Instead of running away, she ran towards. She saw the portal, saw other cats running through, and she joined them. When she found herself tumbling from the sky she was in a panic. She righted herself, braced herself, but landed with no pain or injury. It was a shock. She didn’t quite know what she’d gotten herself into.
It was Clariv who found her first. He’d landed with much of the same fear and amazement as she had, but he would not show it. A more reclusive not-cat, he grudgingly came out of the bushes to greet Darkfang. She was cautiously defensive when she heard him approach, but he appeared to be no threat. They introduced themselves and Darkfang tried to ask questions, but Clariv only said “let’s see who else shows up.”
Next were Bryn and Neva, a boisterous pair. They’d aimed for the trees, landing amongst the snow covered pines boughs and showering the first two with snow. Clariv leapt away with a hiss, while Darkfang spun to see who had arrived. Laughing, Bryn and Neva raced out of the trees like squirrels, skidding to a halt in front of Darkfang.
“Wasn’t that amazing?” Neva asked, bouncing on her toes.
“Sure,” Darkfang nodded. “Who are you?”
“I’m Neva, this is Bryn.”
“Darkfang, that’s Clariv.”
“Boy, when Nestor said we weren’t cats, but something else? I didn’t expect super landing skills.”
“Nestor?” Darkfang’s ears pricked up. “Who’s Nestor?”
“You got here and you don’t know who Nestor is?” Bryn spoke up, eyes wide.
Darkfang waited.
“Nestor,” Neva smiled. “The moose, with the eyes, the one who opened the portal.”
“So that’s what I saw.”
“Did you hear anything he’d said?”
“No, I just felt called towards him, and that portal.”
“You missed a lot. Basically we’re not-cats, and we’re special. This is not-earth, our home, and we’re going to make it our home.” Neva looked at Bryn. “Our first real home.”
There was a tenderness Darkfang felt between those two cats, or not-cats.
Finally came Magnan and Phelan, two orange cats who looked and acted like brothers. They’d landed further afield and had gone walking, looking for others.
Darkfang, now grouped with friendly not-cats, had lost her tenseness, and did not become defensive at the newcomers.
“Hello friends!” Phelan called out as the pair entered the clearing. “Was that not the most amazing thing?”
“It was something,” Darkfang answered...
Looking at this group of not-cats, all strangers to her, she felt a twinge of regret. She’d had friends on Earth, friends who wonder where she’d gone.
