TOPIC | Do people really use the Cat Buyers Pinglist?
I've been trawling through the forums in my free time and started wondering, do people actually use the Cat Buyers Pinglist that's in the Guides Masterlist? Is it like a thing that people utilize often? Or like, actually know about at all? There's many people on the pinglist and I've seen some trades in the forums that would match what they're looking for but as far as I've seen nobody's actually getting pinged.
Probably because the majority of the sellers don't know about the pinglist. But even if they do, two things are gonna (possibly) happen:
- The sellers are afraid if they're disturbing the player at any time (I'm sure some people are nice enough here but still, the anxiety is crippling).
- The sellers can't ping some of the buyers (there's a setting where players can't ping you in forums).
I, as one of the players who input her username on the list (I probably still have my old username (Zhaela) hanging around there but I forgot where
), never gotten any pings from players who want to sell their cats based on the pinglists... yet. But hey! That doesn't mean it has never been used. Before 2023 (I was July(/June? I forgot exactly when lol) 2022 registrator

I've never seen this pinglist get used and I didn't know it existed either! It's a nice concept but something that I think won't really have any good use in its current state. It's a self-edit sheet that doesn't do any sort of sorting for you, so you'd need to find people that match your criteria exactly, which I can imagine is very cumbersome on mobile especially.
If it got more fine-tuning I can see it being a useful resource. I wouldn't worry about disturbing people since they chose to be on the list (hopefully! You never really know with these self-edit ones) and if they have pings disabled then they shouldn't be putting their names down on the list anyway (or if they did, then they won't get a notification anyway, so it doesn't mater). But a sheet or tool that generated a pinglist for you based on your criteria is a lot easier to use than manually sifting through every single cell yourself.
