i'm looking for some new petsites to join but i'm pretty picky about what i like and dislike in a petsite so i usually join a site and abandon it after a week ................ so i'm looking for recommendations that hopefully fit what i'm interested in!

things i DO like:

1. customization! whether that's choosing how ur pets look or being able to dress them up, i love being able to make my pets look different from everyone else's, and will probably lose interest if there's no customization options
   
2. in the same vein, pet interaction! this is honestly a pretty vague and broad point, for me interaction can range from care elements to something like pce where u can do adventuring and create lore
   
3. active forums! this is a big one as the forums r a huge thing that keeps me active on most sites outside of logging on for dailies and leaving again

things i DON'T like:

1. as mentioned above, no customization. if my pet is simply a stock image that i can't do anything with, i'll lose interest pretty fast
   
2. pets aging out. whether that's of breeding, event participation, etc. i go inactive on petsites pretty regularly, so having to worry about coming back and getting all new pets just so i can do things usually keeps me away
   
3. unique names (aka names instead of ids). another thing that makes me lose interest quickly is not being able to name my pets whatever i want bc the name has to be unique. i greatly prefer a site that utilizes pet ids the way pce does

this is very picky i know LOL but hopefully there r sites outside of pce that fit my conditions

although there's no interaction with them really, you might like chicken smoothie!! you can get lots of items to dress them up, there's active forums, and pets don't die. Some do change appearance as they age but that's mainly pets growing up from babies [ and some stay as younger sprite art to!! ]

While I don't have any sites that I can suggest right now, I have my eye on a couple of sites that are in the process of creation- unfortunately I don't know if they match your likes/dislikes because of that but figured it wouldn't hurt to mention them at least!

PawBorough is a cat breeding sim in the works, and they have a ton of info and in-progress info on their kickstarter (no longer getting donations but they update it every month with progress!) Their discord is fairly active.

Santae is another petsite that is very much in-the-works, there hasn't been an update in a few months and the updates are pretty slow, but it reminds me of Neopets back in the day from what I've seen. They update on a few sites but I found them on tumblr. There is a discord but it's very quiet.

Umm
Maybe Flight Rising. It's sort of what PCE was developed off of. It's with dragons and it has interactive forums. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for though.

I'll throw Gryffs into the ring for points 1, 4, 5, and 6.

There are tons of customization options, though true "customs" are locked behind premium currency. Still, a lot of the active users do a lot of breeding, so it's not hard to get pretty guys. There's also a ton of standard-currency items you can get, and they give out "Random Item Bags" (openables that contain 1 random item, as the name implies) very often, so you can pad out your inventory that way.

However, it is a product of its time, being released in 2008, which means it doesn't have a lot of more modern petsite stuff. Even the layout looks dated. There are no forums, but there is a live chat. The community is very tiny, but it's pretty charming since everyone is friendly with each other (I don't participate in it but peek in the chat sometimes).

So, no pet interaction like PCE, and no active forums, but there's a ton of customization and the pets don't die, run away, or otherwise leave you if you go inactive. Gryffs do lose hunger overtime but that really only affects breeding and hunting so it's not the end of the world.

I recommend both lioden and wolvden, they’re made by the same team and are generally the same except one has wolves and the other has lions. You can dress them up and even change their poses, each game has aging stages as well so your lion/wolf will look different when growing up. They also don’t age naturally, you have to login everyday to advance time (rollover as it’s called) so you can be gone for a pretty long time and your wolves/lions will still be the same
Lioden has monthly events and while wolvden doesn’t have that many, they’re still developing them.
And both games have very active forums, so if you haven’t played before I definitely recommend! <3

@Catmushroom1 i've tried flight rising a few times and sadly just couldn't get into it, which is a bummer i've seen ppl compare it to chicken smoothie quite a bit which is a game i've played for years so it's a bit strange how it's never been something i got into!
