Recently, I’ve had some experiences where people buy cats of mine…. Then immediately send them to the city.
Yes, I realize they have the right to do that…. But I’m just curious WHY someone would do that? Why pay a whole bunch of notes for a cat, and immediately ship him off to the “great wasteland”?

Seems wasteful and a little sad.

Any ideas?

How many EF do you get ?

You only get one EF and 150 notes so, I'm not sure why people do this either? I know its common knowledge that notes are easy to get but that really depends on your resources and how you're getting said notes. Newer users may have a harder time because they still need most of their resources

Are these low market cats? Because, I just cant see the logistics in citying a cat you worked really hard for notes wise.

Though every play style is a valid one, I know this would really bother me if I sold cats because of how hard I work to earn both notes and EF.

It could probably just be that it saves time Thats one of the hardest parts of earning EF right now.

the current EF exchange rate is 1:500, so if the cat floor price is lower than that it's just cheaper to buy notcats and city them for ef rather than buying directly from players.

also, you can train notcats you buy to get ef from level up packs then city them, so you can get up to 4 ef for less than one under the current exchange rate

There's an EF shortage. This is one of the few ways to get it, and with custom items costing as much as they do, it's not really wasteful if you're saving for something you want to buy. It takes a lot of leveling and citying to gain enough for even one custom item, and that's also a lot of work Adventuring. Selling cats for higher than floor price is the solution if it bothers you tbh.

The amount of notes a cat sells for is a huge bit of context here. Cats selling for around 400-600 notes isn't anything much; it's extremely easy to get that amount of notes within a few hours of Adventuring or even passively over a few days of just doing your dailies.

For cats that are on the cheaper side, they're being trained up to be citied for the resources they give. A level 1 cat bought off of the CRB will give you 3 Denim's Traveler Packs if trained up to level 4. Opening these packs will give a total of 150 notes and 3 essence fragments. Citying them and opening the packaged gift will give another 150 notes and 1 essence fragment. In total, you can get 300 notes and 4 essence fragments from one cat with this method. If you sell the fragments for notes, using a ratio of like...1:400, then that's a total of 1900 notes from a cat currently.

So, these buyers are just doing their best to make a lot of money! Like Nightmare said, there is also an EF shortage right now, so people may just be after the EF this methods give. It's a slow-drip for sure, but with a ton of custom content to buy, the people are hungry.

If the cat is more expensive, it was probably buyer's remorse.

Nae explained it really well! Essentially, you can get up to 4 EF just from levelling and citying cats, which is a little bit of profit You can easily earn back the notes u spend on floor price cats (400-600n) just from adventuring, so you dont really loose any notes.

Personally, I also like citying cats because of the lore blurbs. Theyre adorable!
