I’m just curious as to what everyone thinks of this concept

For those who aren’t aware, cross-village litters are when someone else and you pair your cats together to make them a couple and gibe them catmint tea so they might have beans together.

Good? Bad? Somewhere in the middle? I wanna hear from YOU!!

I think the idea of cross-village litters is so cute!! I love when the kitties have lots and lots of family and other connections out beyond their own villages, it makes the world feel so alive to me!

I currently have two litters of expected beans bred from cross-village couples, let me show off the pairs:


Pinecone (left) is my cat, while Beth (right) is my S.O.'s cat! In our little RP, Beth came over to my village on a little vacation to meet some new people and have a little breather from their much-bigger home-village. They fell in love with Pinecone, and now the two are expecting two beans! Beth will eventually return to their home-village and bring one of the beans, but the family will stay in close contact through visits and letters. And who knows, maybe Pinecone and Beth will have another litter again someday!


Dusty (left) belongs to me, while Altar (right) is another cat that belongs to my S.O.! Dusty and Altar both wanted kittens, but neither had a partner (Altar is aromantic and doesn't want a romantic relationship, Dusty just hasn't found someone xe likes and doesn't care that much), so we imagine they got together as a platonic couple to have beans with each other! They're expecting three beans, one of which will be going home with Altar when the time comes. Dusty and Altar will also remain best friends afterwards, and may also very well have more beans together in the future!

i have a multi-generational crossvillage lineage with me and my friends and it's so fun it started with us sending over one cat from each of our villages that we partnered up and called "the pink polycule", and when they have beans we split them between us. we just started generation 4 :)

oooh, i've never done this, but i'd love to!

i'm doing this with one of my friends right now! i had a solid cat and they had a cat that could breed a bunch of solids including void with him, so i sent mine over and they're going to breed them i'm not sure if i'd ever do this with someone i'm not friends with as it does take a lot of trust and time ......... i'd probably forget by the time the beans had grown up and they could easily keep them and my cat LOL

I think cross-village pairings sound really fun! They definitely feel like they'd be tough logistically though. Between needing to make space for the other person's cat and having the 4 slots needed for beans (and being ready to make more room for another litter if it ends up lonely). (Or sending your beloved cat away for three whole months.) And then there's deciding how the beans will be divided when they get old enough, especially with an odd number. Who gets to keep more of the beans? And if it's lonely - which one of you gets the lonely one?

I don't have anyone who plays as actively as me to do a cross-village pairing with, sadly, so I haven't experienced it myself. So maybe I'm just overthinking it, as I do with a lot of things.
