So I recently made a bit of a flow chart of what might be an optimal route to unlock occupations (which is hilarious as this is something I should have thought to do sooner for myself).

I'm not saying this is something you solidly would need to follow, but it is an option of perhaps faster or more efficient unlocking of occupations on here. 100% this is just recommendations, and in turn because of my own mistakes of unlocking stuff so far.

So with that disclaimer out in the open, let's dig in, shall we?

2. Build Bonfire


If this is not your aesthetic of course you can mason a brick or stone oven, but the bonfire is the quickest option to build.

Items needed to build a bonfire:

Unlocks Luncheon Daily Activity, and Baker Occupation.


3. Build Mine Entrance


This allows for a quicker gathering of clay, of rocks, and iron ore needed later down the road.

Items needed to build the Mine Entrance:

Unlocks Miner Occupation


4. Build Cobblestone or Stone Walled Garden


While the Simple Fenced Garden would also be a choice, gathering Large Leaves cannot be done in Autumn (when I'm writing this). A Brick Walled Garden also works, but requires more bricks, and also requires daisies as well, which can be difficult to get unless you spend notes or get them randomly somehow.

Items needed to build Simple Fenced Garden:


Unlocks Gardener, Herbalist, and Farmer Occupations


5. Build the Large Autumn/Haunted/Wooden Barn


Again, if aesthetic calls for just the Large Wooden Barn or Large Haunted Barn, that is possible too, but as I'm writing this, you cannot gather Large Leaves or Large Crunchy Leaves. I will however, include the needed materials for it since it's the same as all the rest.

Unlocks Flockherd Occupation


6. Build Dark / Clothier's Workstation


At this point it's really up to you on what to do next, as getting the main ones above allow more freedom for folks to choose. It's by my recommendation though that you open Clothier, because it also just... provides cute clothes for your not-cats! And might allow for a decent amount of profit to be made.

7. Dark / Artist's Workshop


The Dark / Artist's Workshop allows for folks to paint portraits for their not-cat homes. It's relatively easy to unlock once you have gardener and miner unlocked, but I figured placing it after the flow of Farmer -> Flockherd -> Clothier made a bit more sense. Just know that you can alternate this order at this point. Also note that the materials needed to make either the Dark Artist, or regular Artist's workshop are the same!

8. Build Blacksmithing Forge


This may seem like an odd choice at this point, but it's more so you can unlock another occupation afterwards! Furthermore, mining should have netted you a decent chunk of clay to turn into bricks, and also iron ore and stones needed to build.

Unlocks Blacksmith Occupation


9. Build Apothecary's Workstation


By having that Blacksmithing forge unlocked, you can get the iron bars needed to unlock the Apothecary's Workstation. Furthermore, you potentially have gotten the Catmint from gardening or herbalism, and the chamomile from herbalism thus far.

10. Build Craftcat Workstation


So, perhaps by now you're up for decorating a not-cat home? Well this is the occupation for you! And thankfully if you've gotten enough cats to gather, hunt, fish, mine, and build, you'll be in the clear to unlock Craftscat.

Build Autumn / Haunted / Plain Library


I see the library is something a lot of folks want, but it seems like a far-fetched dream at times with the resources needed. Because of that, I feel it's kind of an end-game sort of occupation to unlock, and that may be why I have it last. However, if you feel up to the challenge earlier on, then I recommend at the least unlocking craftcat before still, but placing it higher up on the list.

Once again, I'd also like to note the leaves matter because of the seasons so yeah!

Thanks for this guide! I was thinking of making the same sort of list of what's needed to unlock which jobs sheet but got overwhelmed lol

you do have to remember that there is still stuff missing from this and stuff the last time it was updated was march 2022.
