In their arms, they hold a bouquet
Made up of black ink-stained vellum flowers,
Delivered to desire, each flower away
So that, when needed, magic is ours.

I am opening up poetry commissions in a limited fashion. This is my first time ever having poetry commissions, and it's something that's filled me with a lot of anxiety - please be gentle and patient with me.
You can see some samples of short poetry here.
I'm offering four different types of poetry at the moment. I prefer notes, but will accept resources at a rate detailed in the 'extras' section of this post. I will ask for the payment to be sent via gift first, but will not accept it until I've written and sent you the poem here in thread. I am not interested in not-cats. HOWEVER: I am 100% down for an art trade - either a poem for a poem, or visual art for a poem (or multiple poems, depending on our prices).
I am now also accepting USD, either via Paypal or ko-fi. I do not know how to price poetry in USD, and I'm assuming my prices are lower than the average poet's. I may change prices or completely remove the option for USD at any time. It makes me really freaking anxious to put things up for USD, and it may not be worth getting the money if I'm physically sick from anxiety. USD/notes conversion is totally nonexistent in this thread, the prices are inconsistent, I'm sorry xD
I will write you a haiku, a sestina, a villainelle, or a poem in free verse.
Haiku
Price: 50 or $1 USD
Price: 50 or $1 USD
Bulk haiku purchases may receive discounts at my discretion, and I may refuse to do bulk haikus about one cat only (give me multiple cats for haikus, or your whole village, so I have a decent number of things to write about).
Haikus are 5 syllables for the first line, 7 syllables for the second line, and 5 syllables for the final line. I can bang these out really quickly, which is why they're so cheap. While haikus and senryus are different - senryus focus on human nature, while haikus focus on the nature around us and ephemeral scenes - I class them both as 'haikus' for the sake of brevity and convenience. A haiku contains two different, related thoughts, with the first or last line being a separate idea from the other two. Haikus I write will likely be about your not-cats' appearances, or a brief scene in your village, depending on the topic you want.
Examples in next post.
Sestina
Price: 700 or $10
Price: 700 or $10
Sestinas are a bit difficult to write, but they have a very unique feel to them that I don't think any other style of poem can encapsulate. The basics of a sestina are that it's six stanzas of six lines, with an additional ending tercet. Six words are repeated throughout the poem,
An example of a sestina as written by me will be in the next post.
Villanelle
Price: 300 or $5
Price: 300 or $5
Villanelles are both shorter than and easier than a sestina. The most well-known villanelle is probably Dylan Thomas's "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night".
Villanelles are 19 lines long with a specific rhyme scheme of aba aba aba aba aba abaa, with the first and third lines of the first stanza repeating in alternating order in the last line of each stanza. Honestly, it's a bit confusing to explain; the best way to know what it is is to read a couple of villanelles. Check out my villanelle sample in the next post, or read "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night".
Free Verse
Price: Variable
Price: Variable
Free verse is my bread and butter. I write more free verse than anything else. It's also a bit more complicated to price, as it does not have specific rules to look for.
On the very basic of free verse, it's going to be 10 or 15 cents per line. So if you ask for eight lines of two stanzas, it's 80 or $1.20 USD total.
If you want a rhymed free verse poem, it becomes 15 or 25 cents per line. For eight lines of two stanzas, that makes it 120 or $2 USD total.
I may also give random discounts, cuz I'm cool like that.
Broken Poetry?
Occasionally, a villanelle or sestina will turn out "broken" - it's my term for basically "okay, this is technically the poem style, but there's an extra line or a repeated line has come out differently." You do not pay extra for this. I have no control over whether a poem ends up broken or not. It just happens sometimes; I cannot for the life of me make it fit without some kind of modification from the default, normal, defined style. The example villanelle in the next post is a broken villanelle, since the final couplet deviates from the repeated lines.
Extras
Adding extras to a poem is totally doable.
Specific Words: Each word adds +50 to the price, as I'll probably be rhyming with it or using it at the end of the lines in a sestina. I will focus on any words you give me, as I assume you want them to be prominent.
More Detailed Topics: The topic of "this specific not-cat", "this specific scene (and here's some lore)", etc, are all base price. However, if you want something like "I want this not-cat and this not-cat to do a thing in this scene with specific mention of item", I'm going to up the price as that's more complicated for me. It starts at +100 for a more detailed and specific topic, and can go up to an additional +300 depending on what you want and how specific you get.
Anything Goes: If you give me more freedom with the poem (ie, I can choose what I write about in relation to your town and not-cats), you'll get 50% off of a free verse, -100 off a villanelle, and -200 off of a sestina. Discount will be more variable in USD but will still apply.
Other: Other things not listed here may or may not add to the price; it really just depends on what they are. I also give random discounts depending on my mood and what you're requesting.
For resource-to-notes conversion, here's a list of the things I want. Prices will be based off of current price on the open market, and you can pay with a mix of resources and notes.
Any Flowers (except for wildflowers) with out-of-season flowers worth more than in-season flowers.
