Greetings, fellow non-cats of Not-Earth, and thank you for joining us for the inaugural Pixel Cat's End Secret Santa! I, Taco, will have the privilege of guiding you through this event, so grab a cup of hot chocolate and settle in, because we're about to get started. First and foremost, however, I would like to give special credit to Argante from Flight Rising, as its thread was a major source of inspiration.
 
Nevertheless, you may be pondering what exactly a Secret Santa is. Well, the participants in a Secret Santa are randomly designated another participant to whom they give a gift. The identity of the gift-giver is to be kept concealed until after the gift has been received by the match. Each participant is expected to both present and receive a gift. The presents will be distributed via a third party, namely myself.
 
As this is the first time it has been hosted on PCE, there may be hiccups along the way, and it will evolve as things progress. This is a test to see how well it works. Now that we understand what a secret Santa is, how does it function?

Each individual will receive a Private Message from me containing their intended recipient's wishlist and other pertinent information, as well as the person they are to gift. The match will be chosen at random.

You are then given a period of time to shop, and once you've acquired the gift, you'll send it to me, and I'll deliver it to your match on Christmas. Once the gift has been sent, you have the option to remain anonymous; if you choose not to, your identity will be included on the gift sent to your match. Send me a message if you have any concerns about your match's wish list, and I will contact them.

There are three financial tiers: 500 notes, 1000 notes, and 5000 notes. Participants will be paired with an individual from the same tier.

Now we’ve gotten over the explanations, there are a few guidelines regarding gifts.

  • Gifts may consist of anything, including specialised items, resources, trinkets, clothing, and everything else. The only exceptions are not-cats, services, and any form of art.

  • Although services, art, and not-cats can be added to the gift, they do not increase its value, and the full tier is still required. This is due to the fact that the prices of these items can differ greatly and are highly subjective from person to person, it is impossible to determine a fair price for them; therefore, they can be considered extras. If a match does not want not-cats, you should not include them in your gift.

  • When you send the gift, it must be worth the minimum of the tier you chose (e.g., if your tier is 500 notes, the total value of all the items must be 500 notes), and one of the items must be worth at least 50% of the tier you chose for (e.g., if you chose the 500 note tier, one of the items must be worth at least 250 notes). The only exception to this is the 5000 tier, where only an item worth 20% is necessary.

  • There is no limit to how much you can spend on your match, and you are free to spend more than the minimum if you so choose; however, a gift worth at least the minimum required for the tier you selected is required. Your Santa will treat you the same.

  • Your gift must be delivered to me by December 20, 23:59 PCE Time. Between then and December 25th, I will ensure that all matches have received their gifts.

  • The value of each item is determined by either its price on the Open Market or in the City Shop, whichever is lower. Notes will be used to compute everything.

  • You may send me your gift before the deadline.

Now that the gift guidelines have been established, a participant cannot locate the ideal gifts without a wishlist. As such, here are some guidelines for creating a wishlist.


  • You may include anything you'd like on your wishlist, but bear in mind the tier you've selected and keep it quite diverse.

  • If possible, add some lower-tier items and a few items worth roughly half of your tier's value to your wishlist, but do not exceed your tier's value.

  • You are permitted to include items that are worth more than your tier, so long as the preponderance of the items are worth less than your tier.

  • Create a wish list for yourself alone. Although you are free to use the items as you see fit in the future, do not create a wishlist for anyone other than yourself, as these items are intended for you.

  • If you lack specific ideas, feel free to provide your Santa with general ideas of the types of items you enjoy. This helps your Santa discover items that may be a perfect fit for you as a gift.

  • Try not to alter your wish list throughout the month of December, as this will make it more difficult for your Santa to shop.

  • Remember: do not contact your match until the 25th of December, after all gifts have been distributed.

  • If you ever give a gift that falls short of the required minimum, I will notify you and assist you as necessary. If a match never receives their gift, you will not be left empty-handed: I will cover the cost of the present, and I will keep account of who has and has not yet received something.

  • Let me know if you'd like to add some roleplay flavor to your gift when it's ready to be sent, or if you'd like to include a letter of some type.

  • If you have any queries, comments, or concerns, feel free to send me a private message.


And of course, the following is the time line:

  • October 27th - November 30th: Sign-ups.
  • December 1st - December 3rd: Matching.
  • December 3rd - December 20th: Shopping.
  • December 20 at 23:59:59 PCE: Deadline for the gifts.
  • December 21st- December 25th: Delivery.
