Okay hello there! First of all, I'd like to clarify that I am 100% aware that this is probably a funky ask. I do love the card feature however-

I believe that I am extremely extremely unlucky with adventuring, since cards have been released I haven't gotten a card from adventuring and I am in mid-run 82 with no card (I don't think it's a bug, I just think I'm incredibly unlucky).

I'm not suggesting upping the chances of the cards themselves. But maybe when alchemy comes out there's a way to increase card odds? Or something like a village job that increases card odds maybe? I know currently it's a 1/8 chance, but in theory I should have gotten at least one card by run 64. Maybe it can be a one time increase kind of thing with alchemy?

If the 1/8 chance is accurate for the business cards and all of your runs have included beating Shadow of Nestor, then the probability of doing 81 runs with no business card is (7/8)^81, which is approximately 0.00002, or about 2 in 100,000.

If there's not a bug of some sort happening here then you are incredibly unlucky.

I thought that it was incredibly weird and funky, but yeah, it's around 83 right now with no luck (my counting may be a little bit off though by 1-5ish times, but it's still a lot). I kind of think it's funny honestly and I'm not like, upset by it, I'm more puzzled and intrigued because I broke these odds somehow

There's nothing that really suggests to me that it's a bug because it seems like I'm still getting the end prizes that you're supposed to when you defeat soN. I'm thinking about tracking this on a spreadsheet since I'm mid (full) run 84. I've heard of people have no card spells before, but I don't think the number is that high for most people (if it is and you're in this rare weird bizarre statistic and reading this, it might be good for you to say something here in case there is a bug)?

Id say my longest no-card spell lasted 25-30 adventures and i thought that was gruelling, but 83 is brutal !!
I wish there was some kind of pity system where after a set amount of adventures you're guaranteed to get one, maybe after 16 or 24, specifically so people dont go through droughts like this but without "damaging" the value of a card (because its still a ridiculous amount of work to get )

I hope you get one soon !! It seems like SoN has been snacking on your cards while they wait for you and replacing them with other drops instead

I definitely don't want to impact card prices with my suggestion but it'd definitely be cool if there was a way to up those chances in case someone has absolutely horrible luck like mine Maybe it can be something like after 80 runs you'll get a card or something? Something where the bar is high, there's a pity card of some kind.

no support. for card chances to be increased, alchemy items have to be taken out of the boss drop pool, as squid said here, the alchemy items were added to fill the loot pool, and personally i still want to get them to prepare for the future. Also if card chances increased it'll be probably over inflate the cat market which is already finicky as it is

This suggestion has nothing to do with increasing base odds.

There was a thread a long time ago that asked for a pity card (so-to-speak) at a certain number. Like, if you went 75 runs without a card you were guaranteed one next time. You're definitely a statistical anomaly which is pretty impressive honestly but I can understand the frustration.

I think if someone wanted to make a recipe a la Luncheon that slightly boosted odds for certain types of items then sure, that's not my business if the odds are super small. I'm not sure how I feel about it catering specifically towards Business Cards since that's a grinding meta the site doesn't intend on too much. I'd rather have the pity card at run 50 or 60 or something, since at that point you don't know if it was a pity drop or an actual drop that it doesn't matter too much.

I think pity card system makes total sense....80+ without a card is crazy and I can't imagine how frustrated that's going to feel for someone who's actually grinding cards

My one hesitation for boss drop pity is that the system does not know what is a "valuable" boss drop as all of the boss drops are implemented as equal odds.

Given the future volume of adventuring locations and potentially community "favorite" items, it would not scale very well if I needed to hand code specific item exceptions in for every new location. I have been really careful to build adventuring so that all new locations are front end work only with no coding necessary and I'd like to make sure it stays like that.

To scale this more broadly, would then every boss drop need pity? And if so, would I then need to log when you last received dozens of unique boss drop items?

It is just very technically messy to do. Possible, sure, but not very long-term streamlined. Especially given that some locations may not have any "favorite" items while others have multiple.

Maybe there could be a system where you set a particular item as a target, and if you don‘t get it in double or triple odds (or an arbitrary high number that applies to every item) where possible, it drops?

Or possibly base it on number of runs and it drops first opportunity after X number of runs without it dropping naturally. (Downside - this way would likely make the rarer-colored enemy decor more common than intended.)

That way it could apply to the other boss drops or rarer drops from regular enemies, such as if you’re looking for a particular piece of clothing, decor, collectible, etc.

But even if it’s just boss drops, it’d help.
