Note: The Firefly Tavern is closed until further notice!
The Firefly Tavern, so named because of the firefly lanterns used to light it, is the first fully public business in The Hideaway!
The lighting is seasonal due to fireflies being regularly released and replaced, meaning the tavern takes on a cooler blue lighting in winter and a warm yellow lighting in all other seasons. The lanterns are surprisingly bright, although an ambient dimness is present still.
Several art decorations have been added to the walls, from crafts to full paintings, while there isn't much right now, more will be added every day, giving that cluttered but pretty aesthetic found in many restaurants on earth.
Upstairs is a room filled with beds and pillows for guests to sleep at. Shelter is one of the things given for free at the tavern, but not-cats that stay for more than 3 days in a row are politely asked to help with dishes, and being a public place it is advised to move out once you have a safe place to stay.
The room is lit by a few windows (so it is dark at night), and an accessibility door/emergency escape door is present with a ramp outside, for not-cats that have difficulty jumping up the ledges to get upstairs.
The menu changes according to what is in season and typically has foods served at luncheons, as well as a few unique recipies. 'Specials' that are foods with hard to get ingredients are often advertised when the ingredients are in stock. Tea is served with a tasty honeycomb on the side as sweetener, and in-season buggy snack mix is at all tables as an appetizer and stocked between guests.
A Free Menu is provided as well, offering water, dried meats, and biscuits. These foods and the water have the same quality as all the foods served here, although made with common ingredients. Free Specials are served that are foods from the paid for menu they have too much of the ingredients for.
Cats staying over multiple days are also invited to participate in the village's luncheon, although they do not have to. Due to a local vegetarian not-cat (Asea), there is even a vegetarian alternative made for luncheon if a not-cat cannot eat a meat dish the village picked for luncheon.
