RISIO [she/her]
lighthouse / founder / guided by sun
“enter the #1 psychological horror experience!"
Risio's the sole founder of Everhome. She has been everything ever since- a blacksmith, a builder, and even a mayor, and fairly, there would be no Everhome without Risio and so either way.
Risio was not expecting any of this when she set a squad of friends to explore Nestor's Wood together. All they wanted was to stay a bit further from other villages and that was it, they didn't want anything else- but oh boy, wasn't their fate written in some other way? When they approached the gate, Risio thought it was just like the Saltshaker, and so she led the team confidently into it, only for them to fall into a trial of darkness afterward.
Everything was a mess and all seemed scary at first. Feeling insanely guilty for the events, Risio tried to grant everyone a better future- she at least hoped to keep everyone safe in the land of dangers. Although she didn't want to, this decision altered her into a toxic perfectionist over time, with her shouting at the slightest mistake and the smallest sign of laziness. As the village grew with unfortunate cats who also fell through the gate, Risio became an infamous gossip material amongst everyone.
But of course, time passes and things change. Specifically, after Witfar left, Risio began questioning the choices she took to this day. Something felt wrong- SUPER wrong and she knew it, she was a clever kitty. It didn't take much for her to realize how harsh she was towards others, even when she had to stay calm and keep their hopes up. She wanted to fix everything, but at the same time, she was the one to damage everyone the most.
And so Risio quit leadership and moved to a post house around the Border for a long time.
Time passed and passed. Risio showed up again, but this time, she was not like her usual self- she seemed much calmer and maybe a bit cheerful while still keeping her serious and careful nature. She began chatting with the not-cats and playing with the kittens, and even though everyone found it weird at first, she slowly became a part of the village again.
Today, amongst the Starter Squad members, Risio is the most known one. Somehow she managed to befriend most of the residents around, and she's happy they're safe, just like how she wanted in the beginning. She still feels bad for the things that happened in the past, but who knows, maybe Everhome was the best for them after all- the weirdness and anomalies don't look too bad in her eyes anymore.
As she's growing older and older, she's spending time alone, hoping the next generations will take care of the village well. Maybe who knows, she'll get a roommate or she'll adopt a child she will teach after, but it all looks up to time. Life goes on and on.

- DESIGN NOTES: Eyes are dark brown. The hood is resting on her shoulders.
- Risio lives in a house far away from the village, and it's somewhere high enough to see the whole area. It's still covered by trees that block the view but climbing up the giant rocks behind the house does the job.
- Risio's house also served as a mayor's house way back then. After she stepped back it lost its purpose (no one knows where the current mayor lives now)
- She has her own garden to raise plants and flowers. She gets help from her best friend Gloria in this job. It's not much but it's honest work
- She also gets free tea from Gloria, hence her obsession with it.
- She patrols the Border, Outer Border, and Heart of the Woods as her job. She also brings back the stuff she gets from the patrols.
- Presumably from loneliness, she began befriending rodents instead of hunting them. The rodents assist her and in return, she feeds them food from the garden.
- She's aware of the local cryptid rumors- in this case Runar. And yes, she met her. They're besties.
The thing is Risio found her somehow during one of the patrols, and now they occasionally meet up during the night.
