Pebbles was brought to Woodnote by Nestor as a small, very sickly young kitten. Cupcake's soft heart led to her taking them in as a sibling to Bronze, but they spent much of their early time in Woodnote in the hospital, being cared for by the village doctor, Cloak. Their illness sapped their energy, leading to them spending a lot of time doing things like writing, drawing, and playing tile games when others came to visit.

Pebbles hated being stuck in bed all day. Cloak didn't even like letting them outside for zoomies, when they happened. This led to multiple escape attempts, the strain of which delayed Pebbles' recovery. However, eventually the two reached an agreement when Cloak started to teach Pebbles about the various herbs gathered and used for herbal treatments. Learning about the different herbs and spices piqued Pebbles' interest.

Pebbles is still frail as a result of their illness during childhood, but happily works in Woodnote's herb garden. Having eventually reached an accord with Cloak, he tells them what herbs are needed at the start of each growing period, and that's what Pebbles focuses on.
