Embering is named for the ring of tall stones which encircle it. It was initially thought to be sacred ground, but was declared safe after Neeko accidentally stumbled into it while chasing a butterfly and remained unsmote. Later, Licorice ventured into the caves and discovered the Shinies that lay within, prompting a whole economy to pop up around the treasures extracted from the depths. Due to the difficulty hauling Shinies long distances, the forges and craft stands were built right at the entrance to the caves. As a result, Embering became one of the economic centres of Oakshallow, the other being Snailshroom.

After The Incident, Embering became the de facto gathering place for Sophie's supporters. Upon Mayor Herea's election, however, the group dissolved and Embering returned to its former status.
